Had a good sweat by repairing road

Jul 7, 2017

On June 21, the small repair work on the 3.4 Km community road of Otakon village in Battambang province northwest of Cambodia which was built in 2015 by Good Earth Japan (GEJ) was carried out by villagers.
Although the damage of road was not so serious, the repair work was done before the damage become bigger by heavy rains in rainy season to come soon. More than 20 villagers had worked under instruction of GEJ’s local staff.
The importance of the repair before the bigger damage and how to were explained before the work, and villagers started to work step by step using the tools supplied by GEJ. Consequently, villagers can act for repairing the damage immediately after they find damages by themselves in future.

GEJ support farmers who live on the post-minefield to become independent through agriculture training, improving living environment, and also improvement of infrastructure. Beside, GEJ is instructing farmers to do such things themselves if it can be done in cooperation with neighbors.
